Former Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) President, Bice Osei Kuffour who is known popularly as Obour has finally spoken about the real cause of father’s death several weeks after he passed away at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
Obour became subject to insults from some section of the public after it emerged that he hid his father’s travel history and the fact that he was awaiting his COVID-19 test results from the staff of the Greater Accra Regional hospital when he sent him there to receive treatment.
This led to quarantining and testing of the staff who attended to him and subsequent testing which came out as negative.
Family members of Obour who came into close contact with his father also tested negative hence.
After the death of his father, although the hospital claimed then that he died of COVID-19, there hasn’t been any formal communique in the form of a report to prove or disprove the claims by the hospital.
Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM in an interview, Obour said “This is not the time to doubt any doctor. Rather, as frontline workers for this COVID-19 fight, we must appreciate the fact that they’re working tirelessly to save lives. But if indeed my father died of Coronavirus, then his type is of COVID-19 was a special one. All the nurses and the doctors who had contact with my father tested negative”.
Obour further revealed that the body of his father is yet-to-be-released to the family as they are currently in talks with the government over the way forward in order to give him a respectable burial.
Obour’s father, Nana Osei Boansi Kuffour was the Oyokohene of Asante Akyem Juaso in the Ashanti region.
